The New England Aquarium

The New England Aquarium is probably one of the most popular places for both tourists and Boston locals to visit. It is a place that I have visited many times and just cant seem to get enough of! The aquarium is one of the most popular public aquariums in the United States. The aquariums mission is "to present, promote, and protect the world of water" If you choose to visit this aquarium you will find it does a great job of mixing education with entertainment. More than 1.3 million people visit the aquarium a year!!

Some of marine life you should expect to see at the NE Aquarium
1. Penguins
2. Sharks
3. Sea Turtles
4. Seals
5. Moon Jellys
6. Coral Reefs

My personal favorite part of the aquarium is the Giant Ocean Tank. The tank is a four story coral reef exhibit showcasing the Caribbean Coral Reef. The tank is located in the middle of the aquariums main exhibit gallery...you cant miss it! The greatest aspect of this exhibit is you can see the coral reef from all aspects--top, bottom, and both sides. At the top floor of this exhibit you can look down into the water from above and watch the divers jump in to feed the animals. The tank is 23ft deep, 40ft wide, and holds 200,000 gallons of salt water. The rest of the building was built around the tank because of its size!!

After spending an afternoon looking at all the of the marine life exhibits, you can also visit the aquariums IMAX Theatre. The screen at IMAX theatre in the aquarium is taller than a six story building!!

If you get tired of all this...you can hop on board the Voyager III and go on a whale watch! Tickets for the whale watch can be purchased at the aquarium.
